Barker's Blackberry Hill Winery

Jimmy Barker's winery was the first established commercial winery in the state of Kentucky, in business since 1990. They make most of their wine from blackberries. Berries will just be getting ripe in June, but you can pick your own blackberries in July and August. Wine tasting and tours of the winery and vineyards will be available throughout the day. This family farm, founded in 1977, raised Kentucky Pleasure Walking Horses, tobacco, and Hereford cattle. In 2009 they added alpacas to the cattle operation on their 14 acres. Learn about raising alpacas and touch an alpaca. Children’s activities: crafts, alpaca obstacle course, llama treks.  Farm store features alpaca-fiber products & gifts. Tour features: EB's handmade soaps; Thirty One with Nicole Gleason; Kentucky Monthly with Steve Vest, hosting a book reading. Music by Hills of Kentucky Dulcimers and Lauren Houston with Friends. Visit the Di-H'RD farm equipment display.

This family-owned business produces estate wines unique to the area. Home to the George-Vest house built in 1842. Visit the winery, walk the 3-acre vineyard and learn to prune vines for maximum growth and ripeness. You can visit with the Baby Doll Sheep that help to keep the vineyard trim! Wine tasting will also be available. You'll also be able to save time and visit the Sun Sugar Farms booth featuring CRESBI Crates with Sun Sugar Sun Cherry Tomatoes and edamame available later this year (www.SunSugarFarms.com).  Note: Wheelchairs may not be able to travel in the vineyard.

This fourth generation family farm, founded in 1941, was once a large cattle and tobacco producer. It is now open for the public to come and learn about agriculture.
